HOW U.S. IMMIGRANT STUDENTS CAN BENEFIT FROM EB-5

The EB-5 immigrant investor program comes with a host of benefits for the investors and their dependents. However, it is the education benefits that often make prospective investors choose EB-5 among other immigration programs. Under the program, investors and their dependents can get access to free education in lower public schools, access to scholarships and Federal grants, and higher chance of admission into elite universities in the U.S.

As participants of the program will be lawful permanent residents, they will have the same rights as U.S. citizens. This means that for students they will not be considered as international students and be made subject to the international admission quota prior to being accepted into a university. Furthermore, their fee structure will be as per a U.S. citizen and will not be subject to increased international payment structures or tariffs. Should investor dependents qualify for U.S. scholarships and grants they would be able to allocate that money towards their university tuition as opposed to their parents paying full tuition fees.

After graduation dependents have access to various jobs in their chosen industry or any other industry in the U.S. As lawful residents they will not need to obtain work permits for any employment, this will make them ideal candidates for any company that is considering employment.

  • University Admission

The top half of the world’s best universities are located in the United States, universities such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford and Caltech to name a few are the elite universities students aim to attend post their high school years. This is why most prospective investors choose the EB-5 program to increase their chances of their children attending these prestigious universities in the U.S. While the program will not provide entry to the university, it will present students with a better chance of their acceptance into these universities. Notwithstanding the opportunities they gain once they have completed their degrees. Since the students will not be on student visas they will be permitted to obtain internships or entry level jobs during and post their studies to kick start their career.

  • Employment Opportunities

Does having a green card give a candidate an upper hand over another that does not? Yes it does, when dependents have their green card it means that the prospective employee does not have to be concerned with visa processing issues. They do not have to worry about costs of obtaining and maintaining the candidate’s visa. Therefore, in a scenario where two candidates were in competition for the same job and the only difference is that one has a green card and the other does not, it is most likely that the employer would choose the one that already has their green card at hand.

  • Pre-university Benefits

As previously mentioned, green card holders can obtain free education in lower public schools. This means that parents can save thousands of dollars in education money. This is a huge benefit for families relocating to the U.S. as they are able to funnel all that money they would have been spending on education into other expenses or even the students college fund.
