EB-5 QUESTION OF THE WEEK: IS IT POSSIBLE TO VISIT THE PROJECT IN WHICH AN EB-5 INVESTMENT IS MADE?

Yes, it is possible to visit the project in which an investment has been made for the purpose of the EB-5 program.
Families participate in the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program in hopes of accessing the United States and pursuing the American dream. The EB-5 program was created by the U.S. Congress in 1990 with the incentive of boosting the U.S. economy through the injection of foreign capital. The principal requirements of the program are that the minimum investment of $800,000 be made in a qualifying project with lawful funds. The investment must be “at risk” and create at least ten full-time jobs for American workers.
A crucial step in ensuring a successful EB-5 application is choosing a suitable project. Working with an experienced EB-5 advisor is key to choosing the right project for your investment. At The American Legal Center, we have created well-established relationships with leading regional centers in the United States. Regional centers are private or public economic units designated by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) with the goal of promoting economic growth in the U.S. Regional centers pool foreign investors’ capital and sponsor projects that qualify for the EB-5 program.
An important consideration in choosing a suitable project is transparency. A foreign investor must be able to visit the project site, have access to quarterly reports regarding the construction status of the project, and must be able to meet with the regional center team. In many instances, projects have an on-site camera allowing investors to monitor the project remotely.
Our office can coordinate a site visit for your chosen project. Depending on their availability, you may meet with directors of the regional center hosting your chosen project, and in some instances, you may also have the option of meeting with the project developers. Our team of U.S. licensed lawyers and professionals at The American Legal Center is here to ease your anxieties about the entire process and if it would help you to visit the project directly, we are happy to assist in coordinating this meeting.
